WE ARE RED SKY ARCHITECTS and we are passionate about creating great places to live and work


Based in Nottingham, we are a small architectural practice operating across the East Midlands specialising in residential projects big and small.


We have been lucky to be involved in a diverse range of work, covering all sorts of areas - from house renovations, extensions and new builds to commercial apartments in Listed Buildings and developer-led masterplans on brown-field sites.

We offer a complete package of architectural services to suit every client's needs.


From our first meeting we set out a simple step-by-step approach, from getting your ideas down on paper to appointing a builder.


We provide simple to understand documents including contracts based on the RIBA Standard Form of Agreement. So we always tell you what we'll do and how much it will cost every step of the way - and it's all backed by our Professional Indemnity insurance cover.

W H A T    W E    D O

EXTENSION + REFURBISHMENT | Risley, Derbyshire | December 2012


Situated on a prominent corner plot in an idyllic Derbyshire village, this traditional three bedroom detached house was in need of some serious love and attention. Even though the site was on greenbelt land, in a conservation area, we helped the client through a very protracted planning process to add an additional 80sqm of development and a 3 car garage in the grounds.



ENVIRONMENTAL / NEW-BUILD | Hickling, Nottinghamshire  |  June 2012


A brief to undertake the design of a bungalow in a conservation area provided the opportunity to design a large home with aspirations for an environmental build. Key to this was a southerly aspect providing the opportunity to harness the sun's energy providing solar-powered hot water heating and PV electricity.



LISTED BUILDING / MIXED USE | Friar Gate, Derby  | June 2012


A mixed use scheme for a developer/end user comprising commercial offices at ground floor and apartments on the upper floors. The building is Grade II* Listed  and discussions are ongoing with English Heritage, Planners, the Conservation Officer and the local Heritage Society.



EXTENSION + REFURBISHMENT | Arlington Drive, Mapperley Park, Nottingham  | June 2011


A neglected 1920's house designed and lived in by an architect offered the opportunity of a full renovation, including  conversion of the garage to a games room. The extension consisted of a garden room, kitchen, utility and new garage.



ON THE DRAWING BOARD  | Jan 2014 - current


We've got more exciting projects lined up for 2014, including a barn conversion, construction of 16 new apartments, design of five luxury houses, bungalows, and also a care home......



FEASIBILITY / MASTERPLANNING | Mansfield Road, Nottingham |  May 2012


A local residential developer commissioned us to carry out a feasibility study for a redundant site in Nottingham to accommodate 45 three, four and five bed homes. We provided a schematic site plan and accommodation schedule to assist with a bid for the site. Although successful the land currently remains undeveloped.


NEW BUILD | Clumber Avenue, Nottingham |  Sept 2013


Construction of a new detached 4 bed luxury house, with integral garage and a large kitchen-diner looking onto a landscaped garden.


NEW BUILD | High Mount, Telford |  March 2014


Construction begins for CfSH affordable housing for a local Housing Association. The scheme consists of 16 new one-bed apartments and refurbishment of existing communal facilities.
